About the role

We are looking for a world-class, high-agency Infrastructure Engineer to enable our platform and product development in an iterative and fast-paced environment. In this role, you help us to make AI-driven discoveries that change the game in drug development and support our platform rollout to thousands of scientists around the world – our partners include some of the world's most innovative biotech and pharmaceutical companies. You will collaborate closely with Pheiron’s AI and research teams, and build infrastructure that supports large-scale data analysis in secure and trusted environments. Your work will directly impact our ability to scale, and immediately increase the likelihood that the medicines of the future reach patients in need.

In this role, you will:

• Own our core infrastructure in our local cloud environments and the trusted research environments including storage, compute and the data layers. 
• Collaborate closely with our research team to support them in generating the latest evidence.
• Continuously optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability.

Your background looks something like this:

• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience, ideally in a fast-paced biopharma or startup environment.
• Proven experience with HPC and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), infrastructure-as-code, and generative AI.
• Proven track record of engineering scalable data solutions, from unstructured data lakes to relational schemas, preferably within a bioinformatics or genomic context.
• Strong track record in designing and implementing intuitive APIs (Python/REST/GraphQL).
• Ability to move fast in the face of uncertainty and resilience to competing priorities or deadlines.
• Bonus: prior experience or domain context in biology, medicine, or drug discovery.
