Join Pheiron – Flipping the Odds in Drug Development
Drug development is fundamentally broken. 90% of drug candidates fail, each success costs $1–2 billion, and thousands of diseases remain without treatment. The core problem? Billion-dollar bets on biological hypotheses with incomplete evidence.
At Pheiron, we are solving this by building the definitive evidence layer for drug development. We have aggregated genetic, multi-omic, and clinical data from millions of individuals across the world's largest and most deeply phenotyped population cohorts (UK Biobank, FinnGen, All of Us, and others). We use AI to extract critical insights that answer the questions determining whether drugs succeed or fail: Will hitting this target actually treat the disease? Which patients will respond? What biomarkers predict efficacy and safety?
Our partners include the most innovative biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the world, who use our platform to make critical go/no-go decisions on their most important programs. Backed by top-tier investors across the US and EU and having recently closed a $7M seed round, we are positioned to transform how medicines are discovered and developed.
About the role
We are hiring for a high agency Translational Geneticist who loves generating and translating evidence from population cohorts into decisions that advance or kill drug programs. Working at the intersection of human genetics, drug development, and AI, this role directly influences which medicines reach patients.
In this role, you will:
- Own critical partner collaborations, including target discovery, biomarker identification, and clinical trial optimization projects with leading pharma and biotech companies, directly influencing development decisions.
- Generate make-or-break evidence, including the translation of genetic signals from population cohorts into actionable insights that determine whether multi-billion-dollar drug programs advance or get terminated.
- Shape biomarker and translational strategies, including the design and guidance of evidence packages that increase the probability of clinical success.
- Drive platform development, directly working with Pheiron's founders and founding scientists, to identify and integrate the evidence types that are most critical to make decisions.
- Build our scientific presence, including the crafting of high-impact publications and case studies that demonstrate how human evidence should be used in modern drug development.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience generating and interpreting genetic and multi-omic evidence from large population cohorts (UK Biobank, FinnGen, All of US, or similar), including cross-study harmonization and meta-analysis.
- PhD, MD/PhD (or equivalent) in Translational Genetics, Human Genetics, Computational Biology, or related field.
- Expert-level experience integrating human omics evidence from GWAS, PheWAS, cis/trans eQTL/mQTL, colocalization (e.g., coloc/SuSiE), fine-mapping (e.g., SuSiE/FINEMAP), Mendelian randomization (IVW/Egger/Steiger), meta-analysis into decision-ready outputs (go/no-go, target validation, biomarker strategy, patient enrichment)
- Strong track record of peer‑reviewed publications and/or product impact demonstrating translation of genetic evidence into therapeutic decisions.
- Strong project management and communication skills. Industry or Consortia experience preferred.
- Ability to move fast in an environment where things are sometimes loosely defined and may have competing priorities or deadlines.
